Don’t Drive Around with Foggy Headlights
If you’re tired of looking at those cloudy lenses every time you walk up to your car, we can help. We focus on bringing back the clarity and safety of your vehicle's lighting so you can actually see the road ahead.
The foggy or hazy headlights occur because the protective factory clear coat on the plastic lens has failed after years of being beaten by the sun and road debris. Beyond just making your car look old and neglected, this oxidation is a genuine safety hazard. It blocks the light output, which is a major problem when you are navigating dark Boston streets or driving through a heavy New England rainstorm.

Our Headlight Restoration Process For More Clarity
We don't just "wipe on" a temporary fix. Our method involves a series of technical steps using wet-sanding, machine polishing, and durable protection to get a long-lasting result. Every car is a little different—some lenses are barely starting to haze, while others are "crusty" and require aggressive leveling. Here’s what we do:
Prep and Protection: We start by cleaning the headlights thoroughly with a rinseless wash. We then use a clay bar to pull out any embedded grit that might interfere with the sanding. Once the surface is bare, we carefully mask off the surrounding paint with automotive tape. This ensures our sandpaper and polishers never touch your car's actual body panels.
Wet-Sanding: Depending on how deep the damage goes, we start with a grit around 800 to physically sand away the dead, yellowed clear coat. Once that layer is gone, we work our way up through finer grits, finishing around 3,000. Each step is designed to replace the previous scratches with even smaller ones until the surface is uniform and ready for the next phase.
Machine Polishing: Once the sanding is done, the lenses will look "frosted." We then use a machine polisher with specific compounds to buff the plastic. This step removes the sanding marks and brings back the crystal-clear transparency that makes the headlights look brand new.
Apply Protection: Leaving the plastic bare would be a mistake; it would turn yellow again in a matter of months. We finish the job by applying a protection, often coating. This acts as a new, durable shield that blocks UV rays and prevents the oxidation from returning.
The entire job usually takes between 1 and 2 hours. We can also handle fog lights if they are made of a compatible material and we can reach them with our equipment. If you want to go all out, we often pair this with paint correction to give the whole car a total visual reset.

Headlight Restoration FAQ
Can headlights with cracks or scratches be restored? Yes, we can usually handle most surface-level issues. Fine scratches often disappear during the wet-sanding phase. However, if there are deep cracks or "crazing" that goes all the way through the plastic, those marks might still be visible even after we have cleared up the haziness.
Are headlights cleaned from the outside or inside? Almost all the yellowing you see is on the outside of the lens where the sun hits it. If you see water droplets or dirt inside the headlight, that means there is a leak in the seal or a hole in the housing. We don't open up or "bake" headlights to clean the insides.
Should I restore my headlights or buy new ones? It comes down to the math. Unless you can find a cheap, high-quality set of lights at a salvage yard or online, restoration is almost always the better value. It’s faster, cheaper, and with our ceramic coating, the results are built to last.
